Can I take lessons during COVID-19 quarantine? . . .

Until further notice, RMS instructors are only offering online lessons due to COVID-19 precautions. We will start offering in-person lessons again at our own discretion, which may potentially be after official state regulations loosen social distancing measures.

How does RudimentalMindset.com work? . . .

▸ First, a student comes to the network to contact an instructor they would like to learn from.
▸ Secondly, the instructor is contacted with details about the student.
▸ Next, the student and instructor agree to a day and time that works best.
▸ Following the schedule confirmation, the student submits the lesson payment via our payment provider.
▸ Finally, the student and instructor have a music lesson together. In the event that the student's choice instructor is not available for lessons, another instructor will be recommended to the student for instruction.

What are the obligations to utilizing RudimentalMindset.com? . . .

The only obligation to utilizing the network is consent from a parent or guardian for students under the age of 18. Aside from that, there are no membership obligations for students.
The network was created to give students access to instructors that might otherwise be difficult to contact for private instruction. Students can freely choose whether or not they want to continue receiving lessons from our instructors.

Are the instructors trustworthy? . . .

Every instructor that is listed on the network has completed the Rudimental Mindset verification process. This means that they have been screened and cleared through our FCRA compliant process in regards to the following:

▸ Federal Level Criminal Check
▸ National Sex Offender Check
▸ Background Clearance This indicates that the instructor has completed the Rudimental Mindset verification process.

How much do the lessons cost? . . .

Every instructor is an expert on their respective instrument and has earned the right to determine how much their time and information are worth. As such, depending on the instructor you choose, lessons range anywhere between $30 to $60 per hour.

Is it okay to take lessons from different instructors? . . .

Yes! Every instructor has their own style of teaching, and every student has their own style of learning. If you would like to learn from a different instructor to see if there is a better match, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Is it okay to take lessons on different instruments? . . .

Yes! If you find yourself with the desire to audition for a new instrument, or you are placed on a new instrument, it is okay to take lessons on a different instrument than you have in the past.

What happens if I schedule a lesson and find out I cannot make it? . . .

If you schedule a lesson and find out that you cannot make it, we ask that you submit a cancellation form at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time. The sooner you can submit the cancellation form, the better.

The cancellation form, which includes the ability to reschedule the lesson for another day and time, will also be included as a link in your originally scheduled lesson details.

In the event that an instructor cannot make it to a scheduled lesson, the instructor will also make every effort to notify the student no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time.

Is it possible to pay for more than one lesson at a time? . . .

If you find an instructor you would like to book multiple lessons with, it is okay to pay for lessons in advance.

Is there a limit on the amount of lessons I can take? . . .

There is no minimum or maximum number of lessons; the network is available regardless of the amount of lessons you choose to take.

However, for the best results we do recommend that you take consistent lessons with the instructor you enjoy learning from the most.

Do I need my own instrument? . . .

If you have your own instrument we recommend that you use this for your lessons. However, if you do not have an instrument our instructors will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

Do I need to travel to my instructor? . . .

The answer to this question will depend on your instructor of choice. In any case, the network is set up to pair students with instructors that live nearby. The drive time for students and instructors is expected to be reasonable.

Are Skype lessons an option? . . .

The Skype option of the network entirely depends on the instructor you choose; some instructors offer online lessons as an option and some instructors do not. Nonetheless, this is an excellent choice for long-distance learning.
